Wohoo! That´s a nice surprise!

PiecesOfKate - Mar 14, 2018 at 13:31
Stop making me buy things! *cries*

Anthony - Mar 14, 2018 at 13:40
BUT YOU SAID THERE WOULD NOT BE A BOX VERSION FOR SWITCH! I BOUGHT DIGITAL FOR SWITCH BECAUSE YOU SAID THERE WOULD BE NO BOX!

Sushi - Mar 14, 2018 at 19:24
That's not a box.
That's a DVD-like slim case

Sushi - Mar 15, 2018 at 13:19
Self-correction: there are also big box versions available on the limited run website

Paul Jacobson - Mar 14, 2018 at 13:55
OOHHH Man I hope UK shipping isn't too much... my wallet is a-itching =)

Brian Bagnall - Mar 14, 2018 at 14:22
Congratulations! For us old timers, there's nothing like having it show up in a store where you can pick it up in your hands.

M.C. - Mar 14, 2018 at 14:23

"Limited Run #131: Thimbleweed Park Big Box Edition (PS4)" --- "A classic LucasArts style big box - just like you remember!" Heck yeah! :)

Sarlacc - Mar 14, 2018 at 16:32
This IS really cool, although, I have to say I was a little bummed when I followed the email link only to find out the physical release was not for PC or Mac. I do have a PS4 but in my opinion to get the optimal experience point-and-click adventures must be played In their native habitat, meaning on a PC or Mac. You just gotta have the mouse and keyboard. Thankfully, I’ve no need to buy the game as I’ve already played it through approximately 1.73 times.

Er... hmmm...harrrrggh..ahem! *blushes*
Come to think of it, I’ve actually seen this... I stand corrected :-)

Harban Vassbakk - Mar 14, 2018 at 17:46
Interesting differences between the covers! First of all, there is extra text on the Switch cover (Terrible Toybox and Limited run), and the name is on the bottom, and not on the top. But much more important: There is no moon on the Switch cover! Any particular reason why?

Mattias Cedervall - Mar 14, 2018 at 18:16
Physical releases are always the best! ^_^

MD - Mar 14, 2018 at 19:41
I'm holding out for a RANSOM WARE (tm) version. :D

Ijon - Mar 14, 2018 at 20:03
Can you post a picture of the TWP-Switch-Cartridge?

Joe - Mar 15, 2018 at 01:22
My PS4 has been sitting on the shelf, powered off for months.  I was just starting think it might have been a waste of $250.
Now I'm sure of it!
*rimshot*

Will the unbeeped DLC work with the physical releases? Thanks!

Andy - Mar 15, 2018 at 03:27
Just re-read the DLC post. Looks like not cos of console game age ratings.

Nor Treblig - Mar 15, 2018 at 09:15
The question is: Will the console versions eventually get the necessary updates to be able to support this DLC (so it can be copied somehow manually on to the console)?

Ron Gilbert - Mar 15, 2018 at 11:58
It won't happen for four reasons:

1) Despite what the angry internet mob thinks, we made a lot of changes and upgrades to the engine to support this and would require extensive testing on each console.
2) Having a checkbox to turn on DLC they can't buy is a support nightmare.
3) The approval process for a console is cumbersome, time-consuming and requires a lot of "paperwork".
4) Ever heard of "hot coffee?". If the console makers found out we enabled the ability to get M content on the game, they could pull us or our rating could get pulled.

Ijon - Mar 15, 2018 at 14:15
I wonder about the ratio where the 'angry internet mob' describes a factual provable situation vs. when it's misused as a scapegoat, in order to avoid dealing with unwanted valid arguments or other peoples' opinions.

To the left is the ideal of your game. On the right side is the profit maximisation. The compromises are often in between (unless you're lucky, don't care about money or go fully after it).

You could 'hack' your own game and publish it under a pseudonym as a testament of the angry internet mob, or release it as homebrew including some wicked v0.3 data.

Nor Treblig - Mar 15, 2018 at 16:45
ad 2) Wait, the checkbox is always visible? I didn't know that, I assumed it is only shown when the DLC was detected.

ad 1 and 3) I thought (/hoped :-) this part of the code may be shared between the different platforms and would get released anyway in case an update would be necessary for some other reason.

ad 4) Yes, but this content was included in the game. The actual Ransome DLC needs to be bought separately on a PC platform and put manually on the console device (somehow). I don't think this could affect the rating in any way.

Ron Gilbert - Mar 15, 2018 at 16:50
2) It's greyed out if you don't own it.
3) The code is shared but disabled on all but Steam/GOG.
4) Doesn't matter. We might get the blame for allowing it and get pulled. Not a risk I can take.

Darkstorm - Mar 16, 2018 at 01:11
Great stuff.  Ron, do the "big box" versions also contain the standard edition retail cases inside, or just the cartridge/cd?

Vasilis Papaioannou - Mar 16, 2018 at 13:50
@Ron Gilbert. I am planning to get the PS4 Big Box, since I do not own a switch console. However, I would really like to get my hands on that “Nintendo Switch Exclusive Phone Book”. I cannot afford to purchase box Big Boxes (PS4 & switch), just to acquire the Phone Book. Would this book be available separately through fangamer in the future? Does the Phone Book includes all the phone book entries available in the game?

Vasilis Papaioannou - Mar 16, 2018 at 20:51
misspelling: " I cannot afford to purchase BOTH" :-)

Marcel - Mar 17, 2018 at 10:02
So, after explicit swearing, TWP gets physical? *scnr* Didn't see that coming. ;-)

Look behind you, a three headed monkey!

Peter Campbell - Mar 30, 2018 at 15:18
@RonGilbert, any chance a Director's Cut of TP might happen somewhere down the line?  I bought the PS4 standard copy (my 2nd time buying the game lol), would definitely dip again for a Director's Cut!

Ron Gilbert - Mar 30, 2018 at 18:18
There is so Directors Cut. Everything we wanted in the game is there.

Peter Campbell - Mar 30, 2018 at 22:59
Ok, that's cool.  It just seems like almost every indie game released in this era gets a Director's Cut or Extended Cut or Special Edition or DX Edition or etc. etc. etc. lol.  If you ever do decide to do something like that, I don't think anyone would complain!

Nor Treblig - Mar 31, 2018 at 12:53
What changes would you like to see in this new edition?

Peter Campbell - Apr 01, 2018 at 20:22
Well Ron has mentioned some things were cut due to time constraints/budget.  Also, I'd like to see an extended ending.

Nor Treblig - Mar 31, 2018 at 12:56
> Everything we wanted in the game is there.
OK, so where do we find the nude pictures of Edna? :D
